A Place in History for Bay Silver Quarter Horse mare,
Ms Barbarella Image
Ms Barbarella Image is AQHA’s second proven, established, Silver Gene bloodline, the first being Bar U Champs Binder, who was found in Canada. Descended from Headlight Morgan, hers is the only known Silver Gene bloodline within the Quarter Horse breed in the United States. Ms Barbarella Image, known as Emmy, is the dam of our upcoming mare, Isabelle Image … our beloved “Izzy Bells” who carries the only known Quarter Horse Silver Gene in the UK, possibly in Europe.
The Silver Gene is also known as the Silver Dapple Gene, which is misleading. because it imples the dapples are requisite. As you can see, the dapples are often absent. In Australia, the Silver Gene is called the Taffy gene. The Silver Gene is a kind of reverse Creme (Palomino) Gene, because where the Creme Gene lightens only RED hairs, the Silver Gene lightens only BLACK hairs. Emmy is a Bay Silver, meaning she is a bay horse with a single silver gene. The gene gives a silver cast to her mane and tail, and lightens the black legs to a liver color.
